Organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful toxins or synthetic fertilizers.
Products made from 100% organic cotton, like those at Under the Nile, are produced without using chemicals, pesticides, or dyes with heavy metals.
A baby’s skin is also less resistant to harmful substances and bacteria.
This leaves babies vulnerable to health problems that are often associated
with the chemicals found in conventional cotton.
We also believe that we have a responsibility to the environment, as well as
to the communities that make our products possible. We chose to use only the
purest organic cotton because it’s:
- Good for your baby’s health.
Even after washing, traces of chemicals that are harmful for skin and health still
remain in conventional cotton clothing. Organic toys and clothes are made without formaldehyde, bleaches, metal
dyes, or any other chemicals throughout the entire production process. They are also gentler on your baby’s skin,
last longer, and even smell better.
- Good for the Environment.
Organic agriculture uses less water, does not rely on expensive fertilizers and
pesticides, and helps sequester carbon in the soil. It takes about 1/3 of a pound of pesticides and fertilizers to
grow enough cotton for just one T-shirt. However, organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides,
insecticides and fertilizers.instead, we use biodynamic farming and natural methods such as composting. Also,
organic farming prevents soil erosion, protects air and water quality for plants and animals, and preserves
biodiversity through crop rotation
- Good for people.
Strict guidelines for certification ensure that organic cotton provides a fair livelihood for people
in disadvantaged communities. Organic cotton doesn.t use chemicals that often seep into ground water, making it
toxic for drinking. In addition, organic farming prevents farmers and their surrounding communities from being
exposed to do hazardous chemicals that are known to cause cancer.
